Honestly, the two are not comparable in severity and therefore the argument is flawed. Instead of focussing on religious beliefs, we should focus on the fact that this is a country, not a parish, and therefore civil rights are social law.

I’ll admit that the two are not comparable in severity, but my main point was that one’s own religious beliefs shouldn’t be allowed to dictate the lifestyles and freedoms of those who don’t share that belief.

My boyfriend likes to make fun of me by reading the things I post on tumblr out loud in a high pitched voice from his phone while we’re hanging out together to make me feel all self-conscious.

People minimize and catastrophize events and actions every day. Few things are taken at a realistic face value. Do something small for someone. A kind word or an astute observation; a hug or a small sacrifice of some minutes of your day.

It is the smallest most personal gestures that make the biggest impacts.

I have lived another day when I felt it was impossible because a recovering heroin addict gave me everything she had in the world: a hug.
